A Legacy Portrait Session During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention Month. It is a time for remembrance for advocacy and most of all for presence.

I had the privilege of photographing Ceceline and her family through the support of Hope Lives a nonprofit that walks beside women navigating breast cancer. This session was filled with emotion tenderness and strength. It reminded me that portraits are more than photographs. They are mirrors of who we are in our most real and meaningful moments.

Ceceline brought three generations into my studio. Her children her parents and her own radiant presence. Together they showed what it looks like to love fiercely to hold one another close and to move through the hardest of times with grace.

There were quiet glances between family members. Hugs that lasted longer than usual. Laughter bubbling up between tears. And in every frame a sense that this moment this gathering mattered deeply.

When life feels uncertain a portrait becomes an anchor. It allows us to say yes we were here together and this is what we looked like when we loved one another through it all.
