Sending your child to war. Other than the day both of my children were born, the day he returned home (both times) was the happiest.

Yet there are families - families around the world  who's loved ones do not return.

Today we pause and remember. I give thanks for the courageous men and women who fought with my son (maybe not even in the same place or time- but you fought together) and returned home to live their best version of their lives.

If you are active duty or a veteran, thank you for answering the call when your fellow Americans asked. 

If you are a family member or friend, thank you. I know the emotions you felt  Every. Single. Moment. he/she/they was away.

Pause and remember and be grateful for all who serve.
